Casing shirring

Casing shirring – is the process of turning casings from rolls into sticks, at preset stick widths and lengths.

The shirring is done using especially designed equipment, so as to obtain 100 linear meters per stick.

The use of shirred casings has the following benefits:

  • it streamlines the stuffing process,
  • it reduces casing losses,
  • it facilitates handling,
  • it provides safe and fast stuffing.

The standard use of shirred casings allows saving time and reducing production costs.

Casing Shirring – XXL presentation

Investing in the latest technologies is a priority for us, so starting with August 2023, the new shirring line was enters into operation.

With an investment of over 250,000 euros, the shirring line produced by Wienert Maschinebau Gmbh Germany, ensures us an increase in capacity by +30,000ml/shift and the possibility to realize shirring at long lengths.

As a result, XXL shirring allows sticks containing 100ml of casing/stick, as a result:

  • Increased stuffing speed by cutting the loading times of the stuffing horns up to 4 times
  • Reduction of casing waste up to 4 times
  • Reduction of soaking times
